2010
2010 is shaping up to be a very interesting year, at least for me.
The track at Hobbytown has a new lay out, which I am sure is the best yet. Eric definitely out did himself this time with the design. And I am very much looking forward to the coming season.
But besides that is the potential for some electric indoor racing at Ozzy’s in Leesport, which is only about 5 minutes north of...

End of the 2009 season
Yes I have neglected this for quite a while. I will not bore you with the reasons, because they are are boring.
It was a very good season, maybe the best we have had yet. We only had one rain out for the entire season, which given the amount of rain we have gotten is incredible. The one rain out had to be the Hobby Connection Day cash race though. And it looked pretty bad for the final race of...

Points race #7
What a turn out!
There is a hell of a turn out here. I got to the track a little late, and the parking is all but full.
It is another beautiful day, maybe a little on the warm and sticky side, but it is shaping up to be a good day.

Apologies
I would like to take this opportunity to apologize for the last few months. I have been a little slow in some of my responsibilites, and I would like to make it clear that the situations that caused the problems are no longer a day to day issue. If this is a little vague, too bad.
I am hoping to be out to the track soon to get photos, but the combination of screwed up personal life and getting...

Isn't technology wonderful!
No this not a sarcastic posting. But I have a new peice of tech that has some interesting possibilites for at the races.
I have finally gotten my self an iPhone. While this is reason enough to be overjoyed, it has other potential. Say I am out at the track and it is 7:30 in the morning, and the weather has been iffy. I will be able to post track and weather conditions.
I will also be able to...

2002
I will be moving in the next few weeks or so, and as a result it has been a time to go through old boxes. And guess what I found. Old cd’s with photos and video from 2002.
Looking through them, it is very clear that my skill at taking photos of rc cars and trucks have improved cnsiderably. But the photos are interesting because it shows what the track looked like back then. These were the...

Was working, so there aren’t very many photos and it is a mish mash. Some good shots in there none the less.
3rd Points Race
It went better than could be expected. The rain on Friday helped out a lot, and the new sound system kicks butt! A big thanks out to Tom, Eric and Toby for all they have done!
Here is a link for the photos. There aren’t too many, only 80 or so.

Third Points Race May 16
A big thanks out to some people who have been working on the track. Toby moved the dirt pile off of the concrete pad, single handed, with nothing but a shovel and wheel barrow! That was quite a lot of dirt, so a huge thanks. Plus cleaning out the drains on the pad! Also Toby has been redoing the catch fence in the bottom turn, so big thanks for that too!
Eric and Jamie for working on the...
2nd Points Race
A great day!
No real problems other than some inconsequential stuff. I got home and checked how many photos I took and was a little surprised.

After I went through them removing the out of focus, out of frame and others I didn’t like and was left with over 700! Damn it! How the hell am I going to upload that many photos?
I will try to get them uploaded to this link, but it may be a...

An apology
I would like to take this opportunity to make an apology for some comments I have made both on the now defunct Trinity Tech Talk thread and on this blog.
As an employee of Hobbytown I should be more careful in what I say and write since they could be viewed as being the opinion of the store. I was not thinking about that and for that I do apologize. None of the opinions expresses by me on...

Who is a track for?
I have worked on the track at Hobbytown since soon after it was first built back in ‘02 or something. To be honest, dirt tracks take a hell of a lot of work to keep in shape. And it is no small matter of pride for those who do the work. I am by no means alone, I don’t want that impression, there is one person who has been the one driving force for the track from the start is Eric...
BANNED!!!
Cue the dramatic orchestral music, bring down the lights…..
Tim S, the moderator of the Racing Forum on Trinity Tech Talk banned me from the forums.
You have been banned for the following reason: No reason was specified.

Ha, I just got banned from a message board that is turning into vapor anyway, HA! But at the same time he deleted the entire...
All this over trash?
To those people who seem to not be able to either see properly or count higher than two, let me clear something up. There are four trash cans at the track at Hobbytown in Reading Pa. Four, that is one more than three and one less than four, or to be even plainer and simpler, hold your and up in front of your face with your fingers extended, now lower one finger, that is four. That is how many...
This bothers me!
From Tim S, the moderator of a soon to be defunked message board!
Quote “The Third Problem is you just bashed probably some of the best off-road racers in the area that pull people to the tracks that they go to!”
I will be brutally honest, I dont give a rats ass about racers who feel this way! Some of these so called “best off road racers” have very bad attitudes, both...

Attitudes
I got into a bit of a spat on Trinity Tech Talk in the past few days.
It all started when I posted picutres of two pit areas where people had left trash all over the ground. My point was simple, and made in the post, which has now been deleted by the moderator for “abusing racers”, that it was just those areas where the mess was, who did actually left it I dont know.
Well, I stepped...

2009
This is going to be a hell of a season!
For me personally this is going to be a good year. I am supposed to have off work on race days at Hobbytown to get photos, which means I can also get out to other tracks.
The next edition of the newsletter will be out soon, next few days hopefully.

I will be sending out the first Mason-Dixon RC newsletter for 2009 soon. Maybe today, maybe right after I finish this post?
Trying to a find schedule for Nuclear, does anyone have any information?

2009
It is looking like 2009 is going to be pretty good year all around.
The class I am most interested in watching is the Slash stock class. Having seen them running at Motorama, and having seen one last year at the Hobbytown track, I think this will be the most interesting class.
I do have a question though. With Associated coming out with the SC10, which will be a kit, will that be able to be run...

Winter Sucks!
For me, winter really just plain sucks! Being a photographer indoor rc racing is not the place to be. And with it being below freezing for the better part of the past few weeks, no one in their right mind would be racing outdoors. That is not to say there aren’t plenty of people who would probably try!
I have had the intent to go to Bumps and Jumps for the past few weeks, and with Motorama...

Happy Holidays
No I am not being politically correct in saying Happy Holidays. Saying Merry Thanksgiving, Happy Haunakkah, Jolly Kwanza whatever just takes too much time. And while I don’t particuarly care about these holidays as such, I am not one to kick anyone elses fun.
But I do think Xmas is far to dominant as a holiday. It is the marketing people that have made Xmas into what it has become. I will...

2009 at Hobbytown
Here are some ideas that have been getting kicked around.
Besides the track work and changes to pit lane, there has been some interest in doing some new stuff for 2009. I would like to see if a multi track series could be set up. I have written about this before, but I think it would be a great idea. It doesn’t have to be anything complicated just a simple one race per track series. Whether...
Flickr problem
If in the next few days set and photos on my Flickr page disappear, don’t worry. They are still there but will be unavailable for a couple of days, hopefully.
So, be patient and they will be back before long!

Points Winners for Hobbytown
Over the next few days I will be getting the points together for the series. The trophies are in and ready for the 11th.
But before I go I would like to make a comment about who “deserves” to win.
As everyone knows a points series is a season long competition, many times, like this year the top three spots aren’t decided until the final race. A few of the classes the top spot...
September 27
It was the last points series race at Hobbytown, and some of the classes were still up for grabs. And while the day didn’t start off to promising, rain and lots of clouds, the racing went very well and the track was in great shape.
I would like to thank Mike, again, for getting out there early and cleaning up the puddles and then driving on the track. It was quite messy early on!

Point series trophies
I can’t remember if it was here or Trinity where I made this mistake, so here is the correction.
The trophies for the point series at Hobbytown will be presented at the final race of the year, the cash race on Oct 13
Sorry about any confusion
Club racing
From the Mason-Dixon RC newsletter #16
The basis of club rc racing has always been about going out to the track with friends, having a good time and racing. And also the inevitable smack talk, you can’t forget that! And for many years that is what it was all about. And I use the term club racing to mean local racing, not affiliated with a national or regional series. So it doesn’t matter if the...
