Hobbytown Points race #5

Unfortunately due to the manning issues in the store I wasn’t able to get too many photos of the races. I tried to get out and I did manage three times. The first time was during the first round of 1/10 stadium truck I believe. I got a dozen or so photos. The second time it was 1/10 scale stadium trucks again! So figuring I would get another chance I went back inside. The third and to be last chance and it was raining. Luck was not on my side today! Added to the fact is how crazy it was in the store.

I have the timing sheets from the race and I started getting the information ready and I will finish it and hopefully get it sent off Sunday. I will also try to get the few photos I got uploaded to Flickr tomorrow also.

Congratulations to the A main winners.

1/8 Buggy- Ed Bridges

Monster truck- Larry Soltysik

Truggy- Bob Heister

1/10 stadium- Barry Quick

2wd Stock- Jason Sneddon

As I said above the Hobbytown web site should be updated early to mid next week.

And a very special huge thanks to Mike Cleary and Gene Langdon for working the timing system! And also a big thanks out to Bob Heister for getting the timing system set up and working on the track, and Eric Tobias for his time getting the track ready. If I forgot someone, my apologies, all of the work on the track is very much appreciated by everyone!!

I have more video of the other races, working on getting them finished. I am incredibly slow!!

News and other stuff

News, I don’t know if it is news as such, but here we go.

The Heister family, Bob, Aaron and Derek are having a good year at Hobbytown! After four points races Bob is leading the Arena truck by a good margin, and Aaron is leading the 1/8 buggy. But the best news is Derek, he is in second place after a great day of racing on June 7, winning the B main and coming in 5th in the A main. Congrats to the Heister family!

On my end of life, things are weird as usual. I finally got a job. I am working at the Hobbytown in Reading. It is a good job, good people and it is low stress, and that is exactly what I need after the fiasco of my last job!

Related to that is a special give-away at the store. With the purchase of a truck or buggy at the store, a free 2007 Racing DVD will be given for free!

On a less happy note, because of the extended unemployment money is basically non-existant at the moment. And as a result I don’t have the usual internet access. I am sending this on borrowed Wi-Fi from a neighbor. I am not sure if we will be reconnecting the internet, after all it is $50 per month from Comcast. it is fast and it is really nice to have, but fifty bucks is fifty bucks!

I have video from June 7th at Hobbytown, I have been editing it and am about half finished. But the internet issue is making it tough to post it to YouTube at the moment. But I am working on a way around all the issues.

Thats it from here. It is good to see that the heat wave has finally broken. I am sitting out on the front step of the house at the moment and it doesn’t feel as if my skin is going to bubble off! It is a good thing.

Less than sportsman-like behavior

Hobbytown June 7 point series race

It was HOT!

Unofficially it was 100 degrees and it was a miserable day to spend the day outside even with the canopies! The race day went well, the racing was really good and there was a great turn out!

One problem was with the electricity. A combination of the large turn out and the number of fans and other electrical stuff maxed out the curcuit.

Here is the link for the photos.

New track

For many years the area where i used to live has been lacking in RC tracks and stores for that matter. There were a few stores but they usually didn’t last very long. There was an Allied Hobbies at the Oxford Valley Mall for decades, but they closed a few years ago also.

When I was a kid, the owner of the Allied Hobbies used to run electric cars around the mall. It was pretty funny.

But anyway, there is a new store and track that has opened up. It is in a perfect location, right at 95 and business Rte 1 in Langhorne, Pa. It is only about 5 miles from the turnpike, a perfect location!

 It is called Action Hobbies.

I found out about them on Trinity, here is the link for that. Trinity Action Hobbies

According to the Trinity thread they are having their first race on June 14. It is going to be a trophy race.

The forum on their web page doesn’t seem to work, or it just won’t work for me, I don’t know. Since that weekend is not a Hobbytown race, I am hoping to make it down there.

Plus it is literally fifteen minutes from where my nephew lives, so he can have a closer place to race!
