2009 at Hobbytown

Here are some ideas that have been getting kicked around.

Besides the track work and changes to pit lane, there has been some interest in doing some new stuff for 2009. I would like to see if a multi track series could be set up. I have written about this before, but I think it would be a great idea. It doesn’t have to be anything complicated just a simple one race per track series. Whether it is three tracks or more, doesn’t matter. The three tracks that would be ideal are, Pit Stop, XRC and Hobbytown. But Hobby Hut, Nuclear and Action Hobbies could also be added.

Sponsor race. I was inspired by Dave Hagy’s shameless promotion of the big race last year at Nuclear. I would like to set up a race with stuff from sponsors, like give aways and all that. The details are still in their infancy at the moment, but I am getting names of companies to contact, so i will update this in the future.

Night racing. After talking to Larry, he did point out a flaw in the original plan for a night race. After losing power during the hottest race this past summer, it would be best to use a self powered light cart. This could also be used to power the computer and timing system.

Week day racing. Have a short race after work during the week. Restrict the classes to two and only run two qualifiers. I had initially thought of just having one class, but that would leave a lot of dead time between heats. But running two classes leave no time to work of the trucks. What would be a good day for this, Friday is the obvious choice I guess.

Iron Man. It is simple, as long as your on your wheels you keep going. If you crash or are unable to continue for any reason, your done. There would need to be a minimum lap time, to keep people from crawling around the track.

Just some ideas, if you have any feel free to send ideas, comments or opinions.
